Style Share is a great way not only to show off your Le Tote items’ fit or style, but also to help fellow members check out the outfit IRL before they rent. Sara Davis, Director of Photo at Le Tote, shares her tips on how to take an amazing Style Share. Get ready to take notes!
Set up your phone tripod with the screen facing you. Turn your timer to 10 seconds. This gives you time to back up and pose.
Since the image will be posted as a square, shoot in square mode so you can see the final composition.
Remove extra clutter. Cables, recycle bins, pens, just excess “stuff” causes the eye to dance around the picture and not focus on you and what you are wearing.
Remember, front lighting is beauty lighting. The light is going to be bright, soft, and flattering. It softens all the lines on our faces and almost always makes us look glamorous. As a rule of thumb, don’t shoot with windows behind you.
Use a prop! This gives a sense of lifestyle and a natural feeling.
Ask a friend. If you don’t have your tripod with you, ask a friend to go get a coffee and shoot you sitting on a park bench or near a window at work.
No bathroom selfies — get outside!
Now that you have pro tips on how to take a great picture, here’s a quick reminder on the process of uploading those amazing Style Shares.
- You can Style Share from the desktop site or from the app.
- Once you have rated the fit and style of an item on desktop or the app, there will be a camera icon next to the item (circled above).
- Select that icon, upload your desired image, and viola! The image will be viewable by other members in tote swap and on the site.
