Go for Gold

gold holiday trends

As the holidays are quickly approaching showing off your flashy sequins, beads and jewels is a must for any event. With metallic’s making a huge splash this season, gold seems to stand out amongst the rest. Most recent fashion shows have showcased these looks as reminiscent of old ancient times, wearing an all gold look will have you feeling like Cleopatra.  Inspired by Dolce & Gabbana’s “golden army”, an all gold outfit will have you looking fierce this season.

The glitz and glam isn’t for everyone but there is a way to recreate this look without going too over the top. When testing the waters, trying out metallic accessories is step one. Metallic shoes, headpieces, necklaces and handbags will give a subliminal pop of this trend for everyday wear.

Buying separates will give you the most bang for your buck. All gold looks can be overwhelming as first and the “go big or go home” saying doesn’t always work for day to day attire. Having metallic separates will make it easy to incorporate this flashy trend into everyday looks. Blazers, pants and tanks should be the go-to pieces when initially looking for separates. These can all be worn together or apart- although the same trend, each creates a different look when mix-matched together.

Once feeling brave, experiment with different kind of looks such as a poncho, trench coat or furry vest. These articles of clothing in a metallic color such as gold will make a huge statement in all the right ways. Taking inspiration from the runway and incorporating it into a real life setting is what will make this outfit work, with such a bold color it is important to stay away from costume and strive for a tasteful ‘fit.

Once the season comes to an end, don’t store these looks away just yet. Spring 2014 collections have incorporated metallic pieces that are a must for every Fashionista.
